• Overview of the CPO process – from making an order to settling compensation
• Management of costs, including compensation and fees
• Dealing with claimant’s/objector’s professional fees
• Workshop – a “real-life” CPO scenario case study addressing both tricky and topical issues providing delegates with an opportunity to explore solutions.

Presenter profiles:
Steve Coult heads Browne Jacobson’s CPO practice, which he developed from advising clients on compensation settlements concerning the first stage of the Nottingham NET. He led his first acquiring authority client through the CPO processes in 2003 and has subsequently been involved in both making and opposing of Orders, including acting as advocate for two acquiring authorities at public inquiries. He has instructed leading counsel for both claimants and compensating authorities in references to the Upper Tribunal (Lands Chamber).
Nathan is a partner at Freeths and has over 16 years’ experience of making and promoting of compulsory purchase orders. Nathan is currently advising a large metropolitan borough council in promoting of a CPO for a new town centre regeneration scheme and another unity authority in East Midlands for a housing led mixed use scheme involving a mix of statutory undertakers and other complex interests.
