Course overview
Suitable audience:
All those with an interest in how projects are run and why, and how to work most effectively in a project environment.
Overview:
Effective project management is never more crucial than in the public sector context. This session will provide an overview of project management, and how those working in a legal role can work most effectively in a project environment.
Topics to be covered include:
This session will look at some of the key features of project management including:
• Where project management is most appropriate and why;
• Applicability in a public sector context;
• Key features of project management;
• Common methodologies and approaches;
• Key roles.
The session will also explore project management in a legal context including:
• Legal staff involvement in projects and how to make this a positive experience, and
• Using project management approaches in your own work.
Interactive elements
There will be elements of interactivity in this session including a case study and/or breakout session.
Duration: Half a day (3 training hours) including lunch

Presenter profiles:
Debbie Bondi at Sharpe Pritchard is an accomplished business development professional with over 20 years’ experience and a strong background in supporting and leading transformation projects, developing commercial opportunities and using technology to effect change.
She has extensive experience of working with clients to design, establish and deliver major projects. She is a skilled interim project manager and is respected for her practical approach which focuses on delivery. Previous clients include public, private and not-for-profit organisations in a range of sectors including local government, education, retail, finance and telecoms.
Shane Hubbard at Sharpe Pritchard currently provides support to the employment team and has also provided general support across public procurement, commercial contracts, and technology.
He has supported the Ministry of Justice Future IT Sourcing Programme project acting as conduit between Sharpe Pritchard and the Ministry of Justice. Shane facilitates the movement of information such as activities, drafting clarifications and bidder questions between various parties, and provides support to the programme, in particular the commercial team.
He has been published in Legal InCite Magazine (London BPP Law school).
