Overview:
We will be exploring a number of different topics in this interactive 3 hour employment session. It will include both a general update to remind attendees of important employment law developments with a particular focus on developments relating to pay such as Gender Pay Gap Reporting and their implications for local authorities, as well as a more in-depth look at how to conduct investigations in the workplace. The session will be designed to allow attendees to participate and will focus on practical guidance that can be taken back to the workplace.
Topics to be covered include:
• General employment law update including relevant developments and judicial decisions
• Pay and benefits changes including Gender Pay Gap Reporting obligations
• Carrying out investigations in the workplace
Interactive elements
The session will include opportunities for attendees to participate in discussions, case studies or workshops and quizzes.
Duration: Half a day (3 training hours) including lunch

Presenter profiles:
Paul Bownes, Weightmans has specialised in employment law since qualification as a solicitor. He deals with the full range of contentious and non-contentious matters from providing day to day advice and support through to helping to manage major projects and representing clients in the Employment Tribunal and Employment Appeal Tribunal.
Victoria Duddles, Weightmans, is an Associate in the Employment team and has over 20 years experience advising on all aspects of employment law including representing clients at Employment Tribunal. As well as being a qualified solicitor Victoria is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and sits on the Birmingham CIPD branch as Policy Advisor. She is Staff Director at Birmingham Law Society and a member of their Employment Law Committee. Victoria has also had a period of secondment to the HR Department of Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
