Course overview
Suitable audience:
This course is aimed at staff at all levels that need to deal with difficult situations and potential conflict. Staff and who would like to improve their skills and effectiveness in dealing conflict situations with colleagues, customers or suppliers.
Overview:
By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:
• Identify and explain the root cause of conflict and causes of interpersonal friction at work including bullying and harassment
• List and explain behaviours that can help or hinder interactions with others
• Identify and state the stages in the development of conflict
• Apply different techniques for handling conflict
• Take responsibility for minimising and resolving conflict
Topics to be covered include:
• Understanding the root cause of conflict
• Reading and using body language
• How to manage and resolve conflict
• Identifying and dealing with behaviours, which trigger conflict
• Building rapport in difficult situations
• Dealing with “difficult” subordinates, colleagues and superiors
• Separating the person from the problem
• Avoiding taking things personally
• Summary, Review and Personal Action Plans
