Overview:
The first part of this seminar will deal with recent property-related cases which will be of interest to Local Authorities.
The second part will focus on break clauses in leases, and will provide an update on the law relating to break clauses and practical tips for landlords and tenants. In particular, it will deal with the important issue of conditionality and how to deal with vacant possession conditions in the light of the recent case of Riverside Park Ltd v NHS Property Services Ltd.

Presenter profiles:
Sandy Munroe heads the Property Department in Birmingham. She has over 25 years’ experience and acts for local authorities and Health Trusts on large redevelopment projects, acquisitions and disposals. Recent projects for local authorities have involved the acquisition of a business park; initial advice including collaboration agreements and lock out agreements for a local authority looking to regenerate a waterfront area – this work is on-going and will include land acquisitions; working with an in-house Property Team on a large city centre redevelopment project, currently carrying out title due diligence on over 200 parcels of unregistered land to support a voluntary first registration application ahead of redevelopment. Clients are full of praise for Sandy’s superb delivery with one recently saying that “her commitment to conclude the deal was outstanding”.
Mark Robertson, Senior Associate, and Alex Dunne, Associate, are property disputes specialists in our Birmingham and Leeds offices respectively. They undertakes a wide range of property-related advisory work, dispute resolution and litigation, relating to commercial and residential property and both have considerable experience of property-related High Court and County Court litigation and dispute resolution procedures.
