Theme: Planning, Environmental and Highways Law

25 July 2018, 9.30am registration (9.45am start) – 1.00pm (followed by lunch) Freeths Nottingham, (with Video Conferencing Equipment to Freeths offices in Leicester, Birmingham, Manchester, London and Sheffield)

Course overview

A practical, interactive session exploring legal updates and key issues to be addressed by local authorities when investigating, managing and enforcing environmental issues

Suitable audience:

In-house legal, environmental health officers, regulatory officers and any other professionals involved in the management or enforcement of environmental issues

Overview and topics to be covered include:

• Waste Management
• Fly tipping; and
• Statutory Nuisance

Interactive elements

The course will include case studies. Participation from delegates will be encouraged

Duration: Half a day (3 training hours) including lunch

Presenter profiles:

Emma Tattersdill is a partner in Freeths’ environmental team. She regularly advises local authority and other public sector clients on a wide range of environmental matters, including all aspects of environmental regulation and permitting (waste issues, contaminated land, environmental permits), environmental and planning enforcement (including offences relating to pollution, waste and protected sites and species), and environmental constraints within the planning regime (including Environmental Impact Assessment, the Habitats Directive and associated domestic legislation). Emma has extensive experience of challenging or defending the decisions of public bodies in judicial review proceedings and statutory appeal processes

Victoria Teece is a solicitor in Freeths’ environmental team. She specialises in environmental law including; environmental permitting, contaminated land, odour and noise issues and waste. Victoria assists local authorities with all aspects of environmental regulation and permitting, environmental litigation, enforcement action and/or prosecution for environmental offences. Victoria previously worked in local government for 3 years, at a Borough Council
