An update seminar covering recent developments in property law for local authorities and other public sector bodies, including recent cases and topical issues.

Topics to be covered include:

  • Flooding/drainage
  • Covenants and easements (including proposals for change)
  • Planning update
  • Rights to light

Duration: Half a day (3 CPD points) including lunch

Speaker profiles:

Steven Smith, Partner, leads Bevan Brittan’s local authority team in London.  Steven specialises in large scale regeneration and development schemes. He advises a wide variety of national and regional public and private sector organisations involved in this area, including Greater London Authority, the Homes and Communities Agency and the City of London, as well as a range of significant London Boroughs and other local authorities across the UK.

Mark Robertson, Senior Associate, is a property disputes specialist working in the Bevan Brittan Birmingham office.  Mark undertakes a wide range of property-related advisory work, dispute resolution and litigation, relating to commercial and residential property.  He primarily advises local authorities, NHS bodies and other public sector organisations.  He has considerable experience of property-related High Court and County Court litigation and also in dispute resolution procedures such as mediation.

Zo Hoida recently joined Weightmans as Partner with wide experience in Real Estate having worked on a full range of property matters including acquisitions and disposals, development, landlord and tenant, secured lending and social housing. Her specialism is development work within the public sector, including acting on complex mixed use developments. Zo has recently acted on several major high profile regeneration projects for local and central government and advised on emerging Enterprise Zone schemes.
